A request for Andrew’s Closet

One of the ways Family Hope Coalition seeks to bring hope to vulnerable children is through providing for tangible needs through our foster care closet, Andrew’s Closet. In order for a foster parent to receive their needed items (delivered right to their door upon the child’s arrival) we ask that they complete a Request Form.

We love receiving requests and usually when an email pops up letting us know another foster family is in need, we go through the steps, business as usual, with our amazing volunteers fulfilling the need and making connections. It’s wonderful.

This last week, we received another request form and when I scanned through, the last question just stopped me in my tracks.

It went like this:

Q; How did you hear about us?

A: I am part of your community now

I am part of your community now

This is what we want so many more foster parents to say. This is the goal of Family Hope Coalition. To see more churches involved, so that more families are strengthened, so that more vulnerable kids find hope.

When foster parents know they are part of a community, it can make ALL the difference. It means parents welcoming vulnerable kids know that churches are being trained up, funds are being given to provide for the immediate tangible needs, and more people are growing in awareness which leads to more people taking action – so that they know they are not alone.

For foster parents, it means as they say YES to that call, a new child being dropped off at their house, they do so with a little more confidence knowing they are part of a COMMUNITY saying their own yes.

THIS is the beautiful work of this coalition.

More of this.

We desire MORE adoptive and foster parents to hear about Family Hope Coalition. When Family Hope comes up in conversations, we hope more resource parents respond with, “Oh yes, we know Family Hope. They are a part of our village and one of the supports we have so we can keep going.”

Could you help us bring in more adoptive and foster parents into our community?

Here’s a couple ideas:

  1. Post one of our upcoming events to your social media.
  2. Attend our COALITION-WIDE Ice Cream Social on May 31.
  3. Share about our foster care closet, Andrew’s Closet, regularly with resource parents you know. Sometimes we foster parents can be kind of stubborn to accept help – we need you to push us!
